I am a HUGE fan of matcha green tea. Matcha green tea is loaded with antioxidants, including EGCg which is known for its cancer fighting properties. It also contains the amino acid L-Theanine, which makes you feel calm, boosts memory, gives you better concentration, and enhances your mood. This super ingredient can also increase your metabolism, detoxify the body, give you energy without the crash or jitters, help your immune system, and possibly lower your cholesterol. Dang. That’s a lot of good stuff.
This green tea powder may seem a little costly at first, but it takes me about 6 months to go through one bag. The bag I got cost about $20 for a pound on Amazon for high quality. So if you do the math, that’s only $0.10 a day for a delicious matcha latte. To put that into perspective, a vegan matcha latte at Starbucks costs about $5-6 dollars. For me, this is an obvious investment.
Needless to say, this is my favorite drink to start out the day. I replaced my morning coffee with matcha lattes a few years back, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I get excited for my tasty drink every morning that wakes me up without the crash later. I feel amazing after drinking this stuff.
This recipe has a few simple ingredients and can easily be made hot or cold.
